what to expect
Visiting a new church can be intimidating. Let us help you get over that initial feeling by explaining to you exactly what you can expect when you visit us on a Sunday morning. These frequently asked questions are designed with you in mind. Hopefully they will help you navigate your first visit to Green Valley Crossing.
what time does the service start?
The Crossing currently offers two services on Sundays: 9 am and 10:30 am. Childcare is currently offered at the 10:30 am service only, so if you’re bringing your kiddos, we’ll see you then. If you’re looking for something throughout the week, connect with a community group near you.
what should I wear?
Green Valley Crossing is a very relaxed, contemporary church. Dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable. You’ll see people in anything from shorts and t-shirts to slacks and ties. The most important thing to remember is that we’re seeking to create an environment that’s free of distractions so people can worship Jesus freely. Please dress accordingly.
where does gvc hold services?
The Crossing currently holds services at 95 Front Street in Putnam, CT. For directions, click here.
where should I park?
Parking is available on both the street level and in the Front Street Commons lot across the street. To better assist you, here’s a handy map!
Where do my kids go?
GVC offers incredible opportunities for your kids. Infants through 3 years are in the nursery. 4-5 years have their own preschool space, while 6-12 year olds stay in the Crossing Kids space below the worship center. We value the safety of your children while they’re entrusted to our care. That’s why our workers have been trained, interviewed by the church leadership, and have passed a background screening process. We also want to make sure we care for your child adequately while they participate in Crossing Kids. If you’re planning on bringing children, please allow a few extra minutes before the service to check them in with one of our kids workers. The Crossing Kids check-in kiosk is located on the main floor in the lobby. For a better idea of what the check-in process looks like, check out the video below.
Please note that childcare is only available at the 10:30 am service.
Am I required to put money in the offering?
If you’re new to the church, don’t feel obligated to put one single cent in the offering. We’re simply glad to have you. If you’re a regular attender or member of The Crossing, we ask that you would give a sacrificial percentage of your income to support the mission and ministry of GVC.
What is a service at GVC like?
During our weekend service, you’ll experience a relevant message from the Bible by one of our pastors or a guest speaker. The people of The Crossing love to sing. The worship band leads contemporary songs mixed with a few hymns of the faith in modern-day stylings. You won’t feel judged by anyone else; we realize that we are all sinners in need of a relationship with Jesus. It’s an upbeat environment where you can feel free to be yourself.
